NYC: Saturday and Sunday

Second day we slept in til 11am. We were just broken from the previous day. We went to a diner on 8thy Ave and it was ok... No Florent.

After that we did so much damn walking we shoulda been sponsored. First up we headed to Ground Zero - which (and I don't mean to be disrespectful) was totally underwhelming. There was very little to commemorate the actual 9/11 event. It was basically just a huge construction site. From there we headed to Century 21 - which for those who know it, is a cross between Dimmeys and Myer. From there we headed west and around the bay. From the distance we saw the Statue of iberty in the distance and took some nice photos. More walking through Wall St (I expected a huge thoroughfare, but instead it was little more than some sort of marked off mall-walk.)

Then we made our way to the Brooklyn Bridge which was seriously awesome. I was blown away by the view and scale of it. I will add me pictures when I get home.

Then we went home and slept for HOURS. Seriously, we walked SOOoooooooo far, we were dead. 11pm we headed out to Grenwich village for dinner at Oliver's (awesome food and beer) and then bar hopped for a couple of ages. I could barely string a sentence togethr without coughing. As such I had to leave some beautiful women and their lingering stares alone. Ahh well. Next time.

I hope you're not harboring some new mutated form of drug-resistant tuberculosis, Jas. If so, NYC is totally f**ked.

I see talking monkeys in our future, and fragments of the Statue of Liberty scatterd across a sandy beach.

"Damn you all to hell!"

Did someone mention talking monkeys?

Hey Badower, are you involved in this:

"Loeb also announced that Alex Ross and Jim Lee will be doing covers for "Heroes" online comics. The comic will come out his fall from DC. They showed a pencil version of the cover"

??????

Jas:

Star Trek writer, Lisa Klink, tagged me with the "Ten Random Facts" meme that's been circulating on the Net (see my blog for details). Now, I'm tagging you. I look forward to seeing your list in an upcoming blog entry!

guttermonkey: Yeah, that's my stuff! The book will start with the first episode, and culminate in my double sized Death of Hana Gitelman. I can't wait to see it! Now... I just have to figure out what I have to do to get a comp copy.

kjc: Uhhh... 10 Random facts:

1. I used to dance professionally.

2. I've only recently discovered my sense of fashion and now I can't stop buying clothes.

3. It only takes me 1 beer to get me drunk.

4. I go to goth night clubs.

5. I have a Bachelor in Science majoring in Psychology. It took me 6 years part time to get (drawing and teaching martial arts got in the way).

6. I cry in films. Often.

7. My father's father was Jewish and in a concentration camp.

8. I've been single for 2 years now.

9. My mother is Chinese from Malaysia and I have almost 30 cousins.

10. I'm terrified of sharks to the point I hate swimming. Even in pools. I've seen James Bond - there are trap doors they can come out of.

1. I used to dance professionally.

OMG, me too! I was a professional night club dancer -- no, not a stripper. :-) I used to dance on stage in front of a huge video screen which played music videos from Paula Abdul, Michael Jackson, Madonna etc. More often than not, I would move in step with the dancers backing up these artists onscreen. Hard work!

2. I've only recently discovered my sense of fashion and now I can't stop buying clothes.

Welcome to my world! I recently had to convert my 20x25 foot spare bedroom into a walk-in closet to help support my "habit". When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping!

3. It only takes me 1 beer to get me drunk.

I shall keep that in mind. ;-)

4. I go to goth night clubs.

My bedroom could be a goth night club. I'm an interior decorator who specializes in theme rooms, so I transformed my boudoir into a quazi-dungeon/sorcerer's lair, with gray cement brick walls, a dozen gargoyle statues, chains dripping from the ceiling -- I've even got faux-human skull, named Erik, and a pentagram drawn on the floor.

5. I have a Bachelor in Science majoring in Psychology.

I never got my Bachelor's but I did take Psychology, Sociology and Behavioural Science with a special interest in criminal pathology and criminal profiling (i.e. serial killers, serial rapists) Oh, what fun!

8. I've been single for 2 years now.

Noted, however, I suspect that may change in the somewhat near future. :-)

9. My mother is Chinese from Malaysia and I have almost 30 cousins.

Y'know, I guessed that you had an Asian heritage. I can see it in your eyes.

10. I'm terrified of sharks to the point I hate swimming. Even in pools.

Me too! I absolutely will NOT set foot in any sea, ocean or other large body of water. There are things with teeth living there and I really don't think they want me mucking about in their territory!
