Peter is the exploding man. After fight with Sylar, Peter loses control of his powers. Hiro transports himself, Peter and Ando into the past, where Peter explodes.

First off, the exploding man? Peter. Those involved? Hiro and Nathan.
Nathan is going to convince his brother to explode, Peter is going to go through with it until in walks Hiro with his katana.
He sees Peter glowing, realizes that Peter is the exploding man, not Sylar, and stabs him to get him to stop. Peter regernerates, and he's too far into going off that he can't stop so Hiro convinces him to teleport out of there. My guess is that the actual explosion will be somewhere rural, where not a lot of people will be effected. Just a guess. :)

I think that Peter is the exploding man and although I agree that Nathan and Hiro will be involved I disagree that Hiro will stab Peter. I think that as Peter and Sylar fight there will be a new Hero who we're not expecting that comes into play. This Hero sets up a chain reaction by which Peter looses control of his powers and starts to explode. Nathan and Hiro try to help Peter and Hiro stabs Nathan in the back by accident. Realizing that Peter still exploding and can't control his powers Hiro grabs Peter and teleports him to that small town in Nebraska that HRG mentioned.

Well, just to be different, I think Sylar is the exploding man. Peter stands with him at Kirby Plaza and tries to stop him. Claire is there to help, too, but both are unable. When Sylar explodes, both Claire and Peter regenerate. New York mourns, Ryan wins.

My guess:

There are two exploding men: Sylar and Peter. They fight it out in Kirby plaza, and both start to overload. DL jumps on both of them, knocking them to the ground. Then, he grabs them (one with each hand) and phases the explosion.

Peter is the explodeing man. He and Sylar will do battle in Kirby Plaza, likely just after Sylar makes short work of Ando. Peter will be around alot of heroes like Clair, DL, Jessica/Niki, Michah, all the new power Sylar has, and he'll begin to lose it and go nuclear. Nathan will step up to Peter and try and calm him, tell him what he is doing is for the greater good, that by allowing this to happen he will actually be saveing countless lives, Peter will glow brighter, loseing his appearance apart from his hair which is now very Sylar like in style, and in comes confused Hiro, sees the body of Ando, looks at the explodeing man, figures him for Sylar and stabs Peter. Peter then of course regenerates due to Claire's ability. In desperation, right before the boom, Hiro freezes time. He puts his hand on explodeing Peter and concentrates, but out of desperation. He time travels back to the late Cretaceous or Jurassic periods, where he appears and is immediately eyed as lunch for a T-Rex. Fortunately for Hiro, Peter goes boom, causeing the event that either in the former time period was the cause of the dinosaurs extinction, or in the latter time period, the event that began the breakup of Pangaea (the super continent). And in either case the T-Rex will be killed. Look at the T-Rex painting. Not only is Hiro as of Landslide now in the right clothes for it to happen, I never could figure out the background until just recently, it's an explosion.

I think that in the battle, all the other Heroes will make a perimiter around Peter and Sylar. While they get closer Peter start's absorbing there abilities in the fight, super strength, phasing, and after the fight is over Peter start's to lose it after gaining all those new abilities and goes nuclear. But before it happens Nathan picks him up and does his sonic boom to go to the town in Nebraska with the population of 15.

The exploding man and the death of Sylar will end up being resolved in two different ways. At some point Peter will start to lose control of his powers, at which point in time Nathan will sacrifice himself by flying both himself and Peter into the air. Nathan will die from this, but Peter will not. Hiro will be the one to kill Sylar, but Ando will have died by Sylar's hands (or well, powers). However, Hiro will die as well.

Well Devin is probaly the closest to my theory which is that the vision that Peter had earlier in the year is pretty right on. There will be a fight between Peter and Sylar with Peter being victorious, although Sylar will live on somehow, but as was said, Peter will again go into overload as too many abilities are surrounding him. Nathan walks up to him as he does in the vision but will have a change of heart and not want the explosion to harm New York City. Since Peter is not in control of any of his abilities, Nathan grabs him and flies up very fast letting him go knowing that he will probably survive due to Claire's ability and the momentum will continue to carry Peter well above the city to a point where when he does explode, the city will be spared. Nathan cannot be with him when he explodes or he would die and Nathan is coming back next season as is Peter.

Oh, I actually kind of did this in part 2. Whoops.

Both Sylar and Peter are the exploding man. But the one who actually goes through with it is Sylar.

I think Hiro will stab Peter in the chest because he can regenerate. He will NOT cut off his head or otherwise injure his brain so he can't regenerate -- note the comic has Hiro stabbing the exploding man in the chest -- we assume it's Sylar, but time is a funny thing, and I bet it will turn out to be Peter. Claire is nearby so even if he's dead, Peter will regenerate. But Sylar will still explode because he's being an evil dick, and he'll do it with a smile.

Hiro will teleport himself and Ando away, possibly stopping time so that he can rescue as many as he can.

OH, and I forgot -- Sylar won't die from the explosion either. We see that Ted suffers no effects from his own radiation and explosions, so both Peter and Sylar will survive the blast. Peter and Claire probably duck behind something at the last minute to gain some protection. Claire probably tries to shoot Sylar at some point, but it likely doesn't work because of his TK.

So there. :)

I totally think it's Mr Muggles who is the exploding man. Because, I'm convinced, it was Mr Muggles who Claude was hiding, and that he is not a dog at all, but another empath, who just happens to be able to shapeshift. (Hiding people in plain sight being the best way to be, and who would suspect a doggie?)
So, yes, Mr Muggles will blow up, and he'll blow up in the middle of Texas, in the pound where he's been this whole time. Remember, the Bennet family probably isn't in any position to be able to collect him. This will purely be because he hasn't had a bath in weeks, he's beginning to smell, and that dog in the cage across from him has been staring at him in entirely the wrong way. So he went crazy, lost control, and blew up.
There is now a naked, slightly singed man, who acts a little bit dog-ish running around the middle of Texas with a cute collar. But I suppose, in some circles, this could be considered normal.

And how did he get those blowing up abilities....? Remember, Ted picked him up in Company Man...

Most of the following is the idea of one named TerrorMaster, so if his theory's correct, and he wins, I'll get ya in contact with him, since he'd deserve the prize...

[TM speculation]We see that he hears that he is the one to stop as the exploding man, and we see that Gabriel Gray decides to change the outcome, but we don't see more of that idea yet... At "Kirby Plaza", [me here, just stating it's where that Double Ascension by Bayer in L.A. is actually located...], we see Peter and Sylar fighting, and Hiro arrives in time to take a stab at stopping Sylar. Peter also looks like he's about to lose control, so Nathan scoops Peter up to blow up over the Bikini Atoll. And it looks like NYC is safe.

However, as soon as Nathan and Peter are gone, we see that after getting sliced, Sylar becomes unstable and it looks like he'll explode. We also notice that Sylar's starting to heal and look a lot like Peter! We realize that, in case Peter did explode, after being in contact with Candice Wilmer, he thought he should look like Sylar so the Congressman's brother wouldn't be blamed!

We also see/realize that Nathan's actually carrying off Sylar, who isn't about to explode, and we are left with a season finale cliffhanger as to what is Nathan's fate! That's when we get the flashback that Gabriel heard that he was the exploding man to stop, and later gets a tip that Candice Wilmer would be a good one to visit. He decides to pick her brain for ideas about how to change his fate. He creates the illusion that he's Peter, which is convenient, because Peter made the illusion that he was Gabriel Gray![/TM speculation]

So the above is the theory/speculation of TerrorMaster - however, the rest is extraneous stuff I wanted to add.

Because of the slash across his face, Peter ends up being the exploding man, who Hiro attempts to send back to the Cretaceous period. Peter ends up becoming part of the K-T extinction event, while Hiro has to fend off a Carnotosaur.

Interestingly, in reality, a guy named David Kring writes about the K-T extinction event, and also how meteors may have helped shape the evolutionary development of life (also check out info about the Barringer Meteor Crater, which has been linked to the one in, guess where? Odessa, TX... :) ).

Peter is getting ready to lose to Sylar in their fight when Hiro rushes forward and stabs Sylar with the sword. Sylar starts to go nuclear and Nathan seeing that Sylar is about to explode flies Sylar up into the air where he explodes harmlessly as everyone looks on.

Peter is the bomb.

Peter will try to convince Claire to shoot him. Right as she's about to, however, Nathan will arrive and fly Peter up so he can explode high above the city, where no one will be hurt.

All the heroes minus Hiro will be in Kirby plaza as he explodes.

Peter and Sylar confront each other in front of the building that they are holding Molly Walker at in Kirby Plaza. Peter and Sylar will fight, with Sylar becoming injured but not killed. Peter begins to absorb too much power, with Sylar and the other heroes in his midst and begins to go "Ted". Swayed by Hiro's and Peter's words, Nathan comes to his brothers aid. Nathan grabs Peter and flies him out of NYC and into the atmosphere. They go just too close to the sun and loose conciouness ang fall back to earth, with a cliffhanger ending into next season.

Peter is the exploding man, and after Hiro stabs Sylar and kills him during a Peter vs. Sylar fight, everyone is happy until somehow Peter's emotions are too much and he is about to explode. Nathan, realizing his important descion, must choose what to do. So he goes to Peter and him and Peter fly into the air, exploding in space. (:

Well, is technically after 9pm, bummer, but I haven't read any spoilers nor have I even started the episode yet, so I have two different theories... I want to post just for fun.

1) Ted. Isn't he the obvious 3rd choice? We saw Peter and Sylar in "5 Years Gone" but we didn't see Ted, now did we? Could it be because he actually explodes? Or maybe he's being set up to explode, by Linderman and Angela. They are trying to orchestrate the explosion, in order to further Nathan's career. We've already seen Lindy manipulate other special's lives (Niki and DL) so why wouldn't he be doing the same to Ted?

2) There is no exploding man. Same idea - Lindy and Mama P orchestrating an explosion, to LOOK like a hero exploded, so Nathan can be a magnificent leader in the aftermath.

Ok, those are my two ideas. And they're different. I swear, I haven't even started the episode yet, and technically, it's before 9 on the west coast... :D

Oops, I'm an idiot. Completely forgot Ted was killed last episode, and can't go back and edit or delete my comment... Yikes!

Ok, so I maintain the second one though, that there isn't an exploding man. Just seems like too easy of an answer.
