HANA preview 6: Hong Kong

Well, the good news is that I was able to salvage the page. It's printable and usable, but doesn't have anywhere near the level of detail indicative of the effort that I put into it.

I had to go in and clean some stuff up, but that was a small price to pay.

I guess I didn't have to totally redraw it.

Thanks also to everyone who posted their similar stories. While it didn't bring the page back, it did give me the strength, ingenuity and emotional resources to solve the situation to the best of my ability. A huge thanks to you all.

I'm onto page 10 (another splash page). Almost there! I'm hoping to have them both done by tomorrow morning. A day ahead of schedule. Not bad, 11 pages in 10 days while working full-time. I still haven't got the next script! I hope it comes soon. I'm hanging to see how it ends. You will see what I mean. As soon as you read the title... I showed my friend the title over coffee and we were in two minds as to whether it was literal, figurative or just provocative. Sorry... mysterious section done. You will see what I mean.

Sitting back and looking what I've done, I couldn't be prouder. The first few pages are a bit rough, but I really hit my stride somewhere around page 4 or 5. The best thing about it is it's just such a fast process. And there's so much bang for your buck, too! I mean there's so much for the eye to take in, but it takes me very little time at all (comparatively) to do. I'm also getting much better at Hana's likeness. I'm smashing some really good ones out.

I'm sorry these posts are so devoid of any real art or information. I promise I will re-upload these after the story has been uploaded. Not that a promise like that does you any good... But at least it will give you some context and get you to look at some at my favourite panels.

Hong Kong, eh? ;)
I'm so glad you were able to salvage the page! I really can't wait to see the finished product, it sounds like it's going to be awesome.
Oh, and I'm glad our horror stories kept you motivated! lol. Mine's not turning out so bad after all - starting over is doing wonders for Peter's wonky arm :P

Gosh darnit!

I haven't dropped by for a visit since last week, when I posted that warning to Jason about putting teaser pics of the upcoming comic on his blog without prior permission and, while I'm glad he heeded my warning, it would seem that I missed a lot of fun & drama over the weekend. Y'all are talking with great excitement and interest about pics I haven't seen -- and won't see until the official release. That totally sucks!

However, I'm glad to hear that you were able to recover that extremely detailed page you thought you'd screwed up, Jas. :-)

KJC, there were three pictures uploaded, and I must say, they're pretty awesome likenesses.

Jas, the pic/message for the Hong Kong (Hong Kong!) isn't showing up for me.

Glad to see you're in better spirits. :)

Yay! I'm so glad you were able to recover your work!

I am looking foward to reading this comic with the same anxious anticipation of watching the show tonight.

Kelly, can you confirm you got these of Ryan's link, then Ryan, we should really pull them down. Sorry, man. =(

I really don't wanna get in trouble.

Jas - I removed the gallery from that page. If you want to take off the link, that's fine. Completely understandable. Spoilsport. :)

Kelly, if you didn't get the pics, write me at this link.

Thanks Ryan.

I really appreciate it. =)

I wish I could post this stuff. I would back it 95% that it would be ok, but as I always say, "Don't gamble what you're not prepared to lose." And even for 5% I'm not risking this gig.

Ryan, I didn't get a chance to see the pics before they were removed. Thanks for the offer to send them to me via email. That was very thoughtful and considerate of you...but I'll wait until the official launch. It's only one more week. :-)

Just wanted to tell you that when I saw the decorative bars on Angela's front door during last night's episode, I couldn't help but think this is so familiar! Plus, I totally spotted that picture of the table and chairs. How odd!

Thank goodness you were able to rescue at least some of your work. I'm sure that it will be glorious. I'm really looking forward to seeing the comic for real!

ryan: And that's what I'm talking about! Building a cohesion between comics and tv so that they walk hand in hand. I find it creates a stronger world and product. I'm so proud to be involved. And if only one person notices... well, that's enough. But if you don't notice... I'll be screaming it from the rooftops. =)

CM: I can't WAIT for it to go up! I'm finishing the last page today. I'm getting worried. I actually don't think it will go up next week...
